Statement of Purpose

I've been putting off trying to make a statement about what I'm trying to do with this blog. Though I've been toying with the idea of starting a gaming blog for a while, it took me a while to commit myself to going for it. Once I made the decision, I started out more interested in getting something up than worrying about providing explanations.

My main motivation is to encourage myself to spend more of my time writing. I have a BA in English but since I got out of school, I haven't gotten as much writing done as I would like. At one point, I was thinking about using this blog (which was originally created for a journalism/new media course) as a general fiction blog, but that idea never really got off the ground. Since I spend a lot of time thinking about games and tinkering with game design, a gaming blog seemed the right way to go.

I also read a lot of gaming blogs, especially OSR (Old School Renaissance, a group that affirm that older games still have a lot to offer), and I enjoy the idea of joining their ranks.
